A European man pulled up to a bus stop where two Americans were waiting. "Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?" he asked. The two Americans just stared at him.

"Excusez-moi, parlez vous Francais?" he tried. The two continued to stare blankly at him.

"Parlare Italiano?" he inquired. And again, no response from the Americans.

"Hablan ustedes Espanol?" he finally asked. And still, nothing from the two Americans.

The guy drove off frustrated. The first American turned to the second and said, "You know, maybe we should learn a foreign language."

"What for?" asked the other. "That guy knew four languages and it didn't do him any good."
